Clinical Research Assistant - Assistant Fitness Instructor - Hiring Now

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals. The Liu Lab is looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join our group as Clinical Research Assistant - Assistant Fitness Instructor. The goal of our lab is improving quality of life for persons living with advanced kidney disease (https://profiles.stanford.edu/243728) .

The primary duty of the Clinical Research Assistant - Assistant Fitness Instructor will be the implementation of a virtually delivered group exercise program for Spanish-speaking persons who are waiting for a kidney transplant. They will lead four to eight virtual group exercise sessions a week, which will have 2 to 7 participants per session. Candidates must be conversant in Spanish and English and must have an associate's degree in the healthcare field, and ideally as a physical therapy assistant, exercise/fitness science professional, or in recreational therapy.

Prior experience in conduct of individual or group exercise classes is highly desirable. In addition, they will assist in activities related to the recruitment and retention of Spanish speaking participants for the exercise sessions. This position is a full time, hybrid position, with approximately 50% in-person duties. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver virtual group exercise sessions for Spanish speaking persons awaiting kidney transplant;
• Conduct four to eight virtual group exercise sessions a week for 2 to 7 participants;
• Assist in activities related to recruitment and retention of participants;
• Monitor participants for exercise-related health events;
• Assist with managing systems to organize, collect, report, and monitor participant information;
• Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: Associate's degree in a health related field, such as physical therapy assistant, exercise/fitness science, or recreation therapy;
• Valid Driver License required, Basic Life Support training (which will be provided if needed);
• 1 year or more of related experience (can include undergraduate experience).
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health-related field, such as physical therapy, exercise/fitness science, or recreation therapy;
• Previous experience in health care or wellness setting; previous experience in a clinical and research environment;
• Expertise conduct of exercise sessions for adults with medical conditions;
• Must be conversant in Spanish and English;
• Good understanding of clinical terminology and procedures gained through experience;
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively;
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
