Primarily responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within the Cardiology department and the hospital and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. Performs Cardiac Stress tests, assist with bedside Cardioversions, tilt-table exams, bedside Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), administration of imaging enhancement agents and other cardiac medications, provides patient education and collects data/enters for various programs in Cardiology (mitral Valve Clip, TAVR, Low to High Risk Chest Pain, and Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion) and other assigned duties related to the care of Cardiology patients. Focuses on the needs of the patients in the system, interacts with others in the Cardiology Department, Department of Nursing and in Ancillary Services to best serve patients and their families. This role requires autonomous nursing practice, with the nurse assessing patient needs and implementing appropriate interventions based on clinical competence, professional expertise, and specialized knowledge. The RN is expected to practice independently in accordance with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, applying sound clinical judgment within an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary care environment. Promotes continuity and quality care through the use of data and the integration of the performance improvement philosophy into practice. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
