Summary:
Fill orders with accuracy; check technician prepared products before release; maintain security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Director about the daily activities of the pharmacy; aid the Director in maintaining the pharmacy.

Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. Hospital pharmacy residency preferred. Very good drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics dosing and nutritional support. Working computer knowledge. Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
Experience Required:
One to two years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with other members of Mount Desert Island Hospital Organization and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns. Fosters a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Physical Demands:
Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e., use of computer keyboard) and labeling containers. Repetitive tasks are often performed with one hand only. Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate. Verbal and written communication. Extended periods of standing and walking. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
