Job Description - Clinical Supervisor

Description

 

Function

Oversees authorization of and manages services delivered by Lydia Home’s clinical service providers. Supports the clinical development of program staff and ensures services delivered are trauma-informed, developmentally-appropriate, and culturally-sensitive so there can be a successful transition to a community/home-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Social Work or related field required.
  • Clinical license required [i.e., LCPC, LCSW, LMFT]
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing clinical services
  • Experience working with children and families in a managed care setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of trauma on individuals and families.
  • Training and experience in utilizing evidence-based treatment to address the immediate and long-term impact of complex trauma
  • Experience in public speaking and training
  • Knowledge of family systems including domestic violence, child welfare, substance use, and psychiatric care
  • Knowledge of governing rules and standards (i.e., DCFS, COA, Family First)
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates leadership and organization skills to effectively guide the clinical team
  • Able to demonstrate sound professional judgment and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrates proficiency using current technology and self-sufficient in managing daily administrative work and email communications
  • Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages multiple projects, meets deadlines, and makes quality decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be attentive to detail, resourceful, self-motivated, and have initiative with responsibilities and assignments.
  • Works effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team members internal/external to the organization,
  • fostering a collaborative environment that builds positive relationships with clients and staff while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • ? If requested, must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance when the position requires an employee to operate a motor vehicle in connection with executing the position responsibilities, which include driving to and/or from any agency function
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and respect of diverse individuals and communities served by, working in partnership with, or employed by Lydia Home
  • Must be able and willing to support the mission of Lydia Home Association (LHA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly individual and group supervision to therapists, ensuring quality clinical work and adherence to standards, ethics, and treatment models.
  • Manage the hiring process and employment matters for Residential Therapists, including orientation, evaluations, and personnel actions.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure effective teamwork in supporting client treatment plans, supervision, and behavior management.
  • Maintain expertise in treatment models and ensure therapeutic strategies are implemented consistently across clinical and residential teams.
  • Oversee the delivery of comprehensive clinical care, ensuring treatment planning is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and focused on permanency.
  • Carry a small caseload, support active family involvement, and provide family therapy to prepare clients and caregivers for reunification.
  • Help develop and guide ARC-based group programming for residential staff, ensuring therapeutic principles are integrated into group activities.
  • Build supportive, professional relationships with clients and families that emphasize respect, cultural sensitivity, and healthy boundaries.
  • Complete required clinical documentation and reports on time, ensuring compliance with Medicaid, DCFS, and agency standards.
  • Monitor and ensure therapist documentation meets quality and timeliness benchmarks; provide training and feedback as needed.
  • Provide crisis support, including SASS authorization, when needed.
  • Attend staffings and team meetings; support transition planning when clients return from hospital stays.
  • Coordinate with external treatment providers, ensuring proper consents and regular communication.
  • Contribute to residential program development through strategic planning and clinical improvements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and lead staff training and consultation programs.
  • Participate in professional development and ensure clinical staff attend required trainings.
  • Attend leadership meetings and provide supervision in both formal and informal settings.
  • Support therapist team well-being by monitoring morale and helping manage workplace stress.
  • Oversee the clinical intern program, providing guidance and supervision.
  • Lead quality improvement efforts by evaluating therapeutic outcomes, analyzing data, and recommending program enhancements.
  • Support audits and ensure program practices align with licensing, accreditation, and contractual standards.
  • Coordinate schedules and time-off requests with the Residential Program Director.
  • Follow and enforce all agency, state, and federal guidelines, including HIPAA, ethics, and mandated reporting.
  • Maintain required licensure and certifications.
