Job Description - Clinical Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.     Develop and implement the Center’s new student clinical training program.

2.     Provide weekly individual and group clinical supervision, ensuring compliance and quality affirming care.

3.     Provide crisis counseling and therapeutic services as needed.

 

Develop and implement the Center’s new student clinical training program:

1.     Build relationships with university clinical programs, grow collaborative clinical counseling university contracts and ensure compliance with university requirements.

2.     Recruit Master’s level clinical students who are motivated to serve the LGBTQ+ community, including youth ages 13-24, and passionate about becoming inclusive and affirming clinicians.

3.     Review and complete necessary university clinical supervisor training and documentation to become an approved clinical site for students.

4.     Maintain licensure in good standing and ensure compliance with BBS guidelines for providing clinical supervision.

 

Provide weekly individual and group clinical supervision, ensuring compliance and quality affirming care:

1.     Provide clinical supervision of master’s level trainees/interns, both individual and group

2.     Provide ongoing training for students to increase clinical learning with trauma-informed, inclusive and culturally responsive therapeutic modalities and provision of affirming therapeutic techniques and services.

3.     Review and complete client and university documentation within the Center’s and professional/BBS guidelines.

4.     Assist with day-to-day mental health department operations and administrative duties, including grant reporting, and counselor compliance with policies and protocols.

5.     Provide onboarding, training, and consultation to staff and student interns/trainees.

6.     Assist with the university partnership agreements and the recruitment of new counseling interns/trainees.

7.     Provide support, guidance, and training to agency staff and students as needed.

8.     Represent the agency in a professional manner with universities and community partners.

9.     Submit timesheets and university documentation, including student learning contracts, in a timely manner, per agency and university requirements.

10.  Provide coverage for Mental Health Program Manager duties, as needed.

11.  Other duties as assigned.


Provide crisis counseling and therapeutic services:

1.     Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, inclusive and affirming crisis intervention and counseling services, both walk-in and ongoing counseling.

2.     Complete client documentation per agency and BBS guidelines.

3.     Maintain strict client confidentiality and suspected child abuse and elder abuse reporting requirements.

4.     Provide suicide risk assessments, and appropriate linkage to crisis and ongoing resources.

 

General Duties:

1.     Functions as a strategic member of the Center team, ensuring mission driven services and programming.

2.     Facilitate or participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and other meetings as required

3.     Highly collaborative with staff and leaders within the organization, and with universities and community partners.

4.     Available for clinical consultation with students and staff.

5.     Manage a variety of tasks in developing and managing the clinical training program for master’s level counseling and social work students and other related duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1.     Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender individuals and their families.

2.     LCSW or LMFT, with a minimum of 3-5 years of Clinical Supervisor experience required, post licensing.

3.     Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

4.     Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.

5.     Availability: Center business hours, with some flexibility to include evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of the program.

6.     Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1.     Passion for the Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ people thrive, and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization. 

2.     Knowledge and understanding of the issues, needs, and interests of 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals, including a comprehensive understanding of the intersections of race, gender, gender identities, and sexual orientation.

3.     Experience working with queer and transgender Black, Indigenous, and other persons of color experiencing homelessness, undocumented community members and asylum seekers, people living with HIV/AIDS, people with mental health and addiction issues, non-native English speakers, having modeled a client-centered approach is critical.

4.     Education and Licensure: LCSW or LMFT with 3+ years of post-Licensure required; Completion of BBS requirements for supervising ASWs, AMFT’s and APCCs is required.

5.     Current BBS Registration and active certificate of insurance for professional liability is required.

6.     Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical supervision experience is required.

7.     Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Superior proficiency working with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, and database systems.

8.     Access to reliable automobile transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required. Travel by automobile throughout the Sacramento area will be required.

9.     Physical Demands:  The person in this position may be required to sit or stand for extended periods, maneuver in tight storage space, move objects up to 25 pounds, ascend/descend stairs, operate office equipment, open and close filing cabinets and boxes, observe visitors, and communicate messages by telephone.

10.  Offers of employment may be contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.

11.  Employees must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

12.  The Sacramento LGBT Community Center is a drug-free workplace; employees may be subject to a drug test.

13.  Vaccination Requirement: All employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and are encouraged to stay up to date annually or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption. Documentation will be required before your first day of work.
