The Clinical Support Specialist is responsible for fraud prevention, form completion, medication and procedure authorization and referrals.

The Clinical Support Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the clinic, ensuring smooth operations in various clinical and administrative tasks. The role requires flexibility, prioritizing patient care, and teamwork with clinical staff. This role will assist in verifying form and record requests for authenticity, preparing forms including FMLA, Disability, Biometric, Durable Medical, medical supply forms and other form types for provider signatures. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the processing, follow up and closure of referrals in addition to patient outreach regarding scheduling and cancellations of metric related procedures. This role will serve as a backup and assist with patient transitional care management, clinical pool messages, incoming calls, and general scheduling. In addition, this role will serve as an internal clinical float to assist with rooming duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Form verification and preparation for providers.
Processing and completing patient referrals.
Medication prior authorizations.
STAT procedures prior authorization.
Cologuard follow up report.
Cancelled colonoscopy report.
Provide coverage for clinical staff that are scheduled out of the office or when the office is short staffed.
Scanning of medical records into patient’s chart.
Assist with clinical pool messages including medication refills.
Assist with incoming calls and scheduling needs.
Collaborate with clinical staff and providers in a professional and courteous manner.
Inform providers of issues or concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education in a healthcare related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical and administrative capacity.
Medical Assistant, LPN or RN preferred.
Familiarity with patient care procedures and medications.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Education, Licensures & Certifications
Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Education or experience in medical office capacity.
Medical Assistant, LPN or RN preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education or experience in medical office capacity. Medical Assistant, LPN or RN preferred.
Proven experience in a clinical support role
Familiarity with patient care procedures and medications.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
Capable of lifting light to medium-weight supplies as necessary.
