The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Tradition Hospital is a specialized area within the hospital that provides care for patients who are too ill for a regular hospital floor but not sick enough for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As a Clinical Technician, you will support your fellow caregivers and medical staff by providing patients with top-quality, intermediate-level care in the PCU. Under the supervision of an RN, you will utilize your technical and applicable skills to enhance the patient experience and create a welcoming, healing environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 6:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting urinary Foley catheters.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Complete an internal training program within two weeks of start date.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification prior to hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
