Job Description - Clinical Therapist LSAA - Behavioral Health and Addiction Counseling

Deliver Counseling Services That Make Recovery Possible

At State of the Heart Recovery, our clinical team delivers trauma-informed, evidence-based therapeutic services to adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. As a Clinical Therapist holding an LSAA license, you will provide individual and group therapy, conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, coordinate referrals, comply with clinical documentation standards, and support client recovery using approved modalities under appropriate supervision.

You will contribute to a multidisciplinary treatment environment where counseling is grounded in ethics, compliance, client rights, and behavioral health best practices. This role is appropriate for early-career clinicians seeking licensure advancement and hands-on learning within an integrated treatment program.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct clinical assessments using ASAM, GPRA, psychosocial evaluations, and other assigned tools.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client-identified goals, clinical standards, and approved therapeutic methods.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices within LSAA scope.
  • Support crisis intervention activities and coordinate with clinical supervisors on high-risk needs.
  • Document treatment plans, clinical assessments, progress notes, and required forms in compliance with state and federal standards.
  • Ensure compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, ethical codes, and client rights requirements.
  • Coordinate referrals to internal and external providers for services outside the treatment program scope.
  • Participate in supervision, case consultations, and chart reviews as required for licensure.
  • Maintain active licensure and meet continuing education requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory trainings, clinical meetings, and treatment team conferences.
  • Support program fidelity to evidence-based practices including the Matrix Model.
  • Uphold cultural humility and trauma-informed care principles in all client interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals, clinical operations, and recovery outcomes.

What You Will Bring

  • Active New Mexico licensure as LSAA, or other approved credentials including LMHC, LADAC, LPCC, LMSW, LCSW, LISW, LMFT.
  • Two years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Active New Mexico Medicaid provider number or ability to obtain.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within ninety days of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license, clean driving record, and current automobile insurance.
  • Computer proficiency to meet documentation, assessment, and BHSD reporting standards.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of confidentiality laws including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA.
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention, case management principles, referral coordination, and treatment planning.
