PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 

General Mental Health (GMH) is a clinic based program that serves primarily Tier III adults with persistent and significant mental health impairments across serval areas of functioning. GMH works to stabilize clients with the goal of titrating to lower level services once stable. GMH uses a Mental Health Recovery, Wellness, and Resilience approach to help the individual to live a healthy, satisfying, and hopeful life according to his or her own values and cultural framework despite limitations and/or continuing effects caused by his or her mental illness.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Clinicians will provide comprehensive mental health services and develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans. Services include, but are not limited to, assessment, psychotherapy, case management, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. Clinicians may also be responsible for facilitating therapeutic groups or family sessions and may be asked to participate in an on-call rotation. Clinicians will also assist in coordinating and collaborating with outside agencies such as Probation Departments, Schools, Juvenile Dependency Court, and County Behavioral Health Services. This position is eligible for bonuses and merit increases throughout your accumulation of clinical hours, attainment of licensure, and experience in the position post-licensure.

Salary Range:

Clinician Tier I: Masters Degree with less then 1500 hours

$71,640 - $74,280

Clinician Tier II: Masters Degree with 1500 Hours completed

$76,920 - $79,600

Clinician Tier III: Licensed   

$85,280 - $87,960

Clinician Tier IV : 2 + years post License 

$90,640 - $93,320

*This position is a hybrid position and requires 1 day in the office with the possibility of more days dependent on client care and program needs.* 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience

1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
2. 2+ years’ experience in report writing, assessment/diagnostic skills, group and family therapy skills.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

1. PsyD/PhD/LCSW/LMFT preferred. If not licensed, active registration with the California BBS or Board of Psychology as Registered Psychologist with 2000 hours preferred.
2. Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
3. Completion of CPR/First Aid within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Requirements

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize a trauma-informed approach when working with children and their families.
• Provide individual and/or family therapy, formulate diagnoses and complete clinical assessments and treatment plans. 
• Acquire and apply up-to date knowledge of evidenced based interventions and methodologies.
• Utilize Whole Person Care model when treatment planning to maximize client empowerment.  
• Comply with all HIPAA and SCCS confidentiality standards. 
• Adhere to all relevant standards and regulations for productivity, timeliness, and documentation.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies to ensure clients’ treatment goals are met and in compliance with court-orders. 
• Effectively collaborate with the program’s multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and cohesive care. 
• Skillfully manage crisis situations and utilize de-escalation techniques as appropriate. 
• Clinicians will have the opportunity to provide psychotherapy to commercially insured clients for an additional stipend through South Coast’s Hope Healing Connection Program. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook and able to navigate electronic health records systems. 
• Understanding of the child welfare system and child development principles. 
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and therapeutic approaches for high-risk youth.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, remain organized and manage multiple tasks at once. 
• Ability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary team. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances (one hour or more) to ensure safe transport to client settings and to safely transport clients to appointments as needed.
• Senses of vision, hearing and smell sufficient to regularly operate a motor vehicle, to visualize threats in the environment or risks to clients, and to operate safely in the field.
• Required to occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs (1 or more flights) and walk while in route to and during family visits.
• Regularly required to sit and use computer in office settings.
