Clinician- Lazarus

Position Summary:

The Lazarus Street Outreach Team provides direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on those living unsheltered. Our team engages people where they are, building trust and providing critical support to connect them with housing, healthcare, and mental health services.

This role involves providing mental health and substance use counseling to individuals experiencing homelessness, many of whom face significant trauma, co-occurring disorders, and barriers to traditional care. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable populations and a commitment to harm reduction and trauma-informed care. This position requires travel throughout the community, and the clinician must be able to drive company vehicles to outreach sites, shelters, and partner agencies.

• Conduct mental health and substance use assessments in non-traditional settings, including encampments and community spaces.
• Provide short-term, solution-focused therapy and crisis intervention to individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the outreach team.
• Facilitate connections to ongoing mental health and substance use treatment, including referrals to appropriate providers.
• Work closely with case managers, peer support specialists, and medical providers to coordinate care and support holistic client needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and interventions.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training to support professional development and effective service delivery.
• Advocate for clients to access housing, healthcare, and social services.
• Utilize harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches in all client interactions.
• Travel to outreach sites, shelters, and partner agencies using company vehicles.
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards of clinical practice and confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position involves frequent travel to various outreach locations, including streets, encampments, and shelters.
• Work is primarily conducted in the field, often in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
• Requires periods of walking, standing, and sitting, sometimes on uneven terrain.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally (e.g., carrying outreach supplies).
• May involve entering spaces that are confined, unsanitary, or otherwise challenging.
• Requires flexibility and adaptability to work in unpredictable and potentially high-stress environments.
• This position will alternate between early morning and afternoon/evening teams throughout the week.

Work Schedule:

• Non-Remote Position – Full-Time
• This position will alternate between two outreach teams covering 7 days per week from 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
• The clinician will work a flexible schedule, splitting time between the early morning team and the afternoon/early evening team throughout the week.
• Some weekend coverages may be required based on team needs.
• Extended hours may be necessary during inclement weather events or emergency outreach efforts.
• Participation in key organizational fundraising events (e.g., Gala).

• Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
• Education: Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Experience: Experience providing therapy and crisis intervention, particularly with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Strong understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, high-need environments with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in oral and written English; Spanish preferred, Creole a plus.
• Successful completion of background screening and Level II screening for licensed clinicians.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License and comfortable driving company vehicles for outreach activities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early morning and afternoon/evening shifts throughout the week.
• Certification as an Addiction Specialist.
• Licensed or license-eligible in Florida, such as LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT.
• Knowledge of community resources and trauma-informed service models.
• Strong crisis intervention skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
