Job Description - Club Manager-Lancaster

The Story Behind This Role

Physiq Fitness didn’t begin with a massive facility or huge budget.
It began in the back of a car — with nothing more than a couple of resistance bands and the drive to change lives through fitness.

From those beginnings, Physiq has grown into a multi-location company that’s been voted Best Gym 11 years in a row. We are a proud, fast-growing, locally owned business built on grit, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping people.

Now, we’re ready to grow again.

If you’re someone who thrives in leadership, loves developing people, gets excited about driving sales, and takes pride in a spotless, high-standard facility…
you may be exactly who we’re looking for.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a confident, self-driven Club Manager who leads by example and can inspire both members and staff. You must be passionate about:

  • Membership sales growth

  • Cleanliness and operational excellence

  • Creating strong relationships

  • Coaching teams

  • Delivering an outstanding member experience

As Club Manager of a new club, you’ll have the rare opportunity to build processes, shape culture, and implement your ideas from day one. Your leadership will directly impact how successful this new location becomes.

This is your chance to help write the next chapter of a company that started small — and is now transforming the fitness landscape in Oregon.

General Accountabilities

Membership Sales & Member Experience

  • Drive and monitor membership sales with a high level of intention and accountability.

  • Develop relationships with members to help them reach their goals.

  • Treat every interaction as an opportunity to deliver value and build trust.

  • Deliver a best-in-class experience by being active, visible, and engaged.

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement for both staff and members.

Cleanliness & Facilities Excellence

  • Hold an exceptional standard for cleanliness across every area of the facility.

  • Meet weekly with maintenance to identify needs and follow up on open tasks.

  • Ensure all staff follow checklists and cleaning procedures consistently.

  • Perform daily facility walks and identify areas for improvement.

  • Uphold safety and create a clean, organized environment members love.

Coaching & Developing Staff

  • Lead by working alongside your team, modeling effort and standards.

  • Build a learning-focused environment that develops future leaders.

  • Provide feedback, coaching, and accountability.

  • Recognize strong performance and contribute to staff evaluations.

  • Encourage staff ideas and test improvements through small “rifle shot” trials.

Strategic Planning

  • Create strategic plans to hit monthly and yearly goals.

  • Use strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to guide decision-making.

  • Implement, monitor, and refine plans for continued improvement.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Review scheduled vs. actual hours daily and adjust based on traffic.

  • Ensure all departments operate within budget.

  • Assist with collections, freezes, cancellations, and account adjustments.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend management, supervisor, and budget meetings.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with all interactions.

  • Praise publicly; coach privately.

  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and when needed, release staff.

  • Assign team members to appropriate duties.

  • Enforce safety, health, and security standards.

  • Work with the Fitness Manager & Lead Instructor on class schedules.

  • Ensure the club meets and maintains cleaning standards at all times.

Experience & Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • CPR/AED certification required within 60 days of hire.

  • Leadership experience required (no degree needed).

Physical Demands

  • Occasional sitting and walking.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs occasionally.

A Final Word

If you’re excited about the challenge of opening a brand-new fitness club…
If you love leading people, driving membership sales, and maintaining a spotless, well-run facility…
If you want to be part of a proven, award-winning local company with a grassroots origin story…

We’d love to talk to you.
