Summary:
Depending on business needs and priorities, the operator will use inspection methodologies and Monitoring and Measuring Equipment (M&ME) to inspect product for dimensional conformance. The operator will read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) data in order to operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and produce and interpret dimensional reports according to product acceptance requirements. The inspector will also be trained to work in the Final Inspection department and perform visual and dimensional inspections of products according to written final inspection plans and work instructions. The inspector will comply with all internal quality system, business policies, and regulatory requirements while supporting business goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and understand blueprints, travelers/routers, and work instructions
- Pass Inspection exam and maintain certification
- Operate CMM and other M&ME to perform in process or final layout on components, analyze features to GD&T requirements.
- Generate inspection reports and FAI reports and analyze dimensional data to determine product conformance.
- Set up material and calibrate machines and tooling according to work instructions to measure product.
- Perform final assembly processes such as riveting, threaded insert installation, part marking, assembly hardware kitting, and closure of assemblies in accordance with work instructions
- Inspect characteristics using measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, comparators and go / no-go gauges.
- Inspect products and required paperwork for conformance including: part mark, surface finishes, part or assembly configuration, First Article Inspection, routers and associated documents, etc.
- Identify and initiate action on nonconforming product and close out Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) as appropriate.
- Maintain final inspection logs and other required documents as required
- Work under minimal supervision to plan and schedule workload according to production schedule to meet manufacturing needs.
- Maintain a clean work area and take proper care of tools and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
Day (1st) Shift: 6am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday
Requirements
- Ability to pass vision test and maintain vision requirements
- High School Graduate/GED
- Able to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
- Legal Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to speak, read and write English
Desired Characteristics:
- No active disciplinary issues (Internal candidates only)
- Excellent attendance and punctuality history
- Technical training or education or >1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with GD&T and reading and interpreting customer requirements such as specifications and engineering drawings
- Experience with measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
- Experience with generating NCRs (a person who has achieved MRB Disposition Authority at MPP is preferred)
- Attention to detail and hand/eye coordination skills
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately, legibly, and timely
- Demonstrated flexibility with changing priorities
