Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Department: Emergency Department
Reports To: Manager, Emergency Department
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Position Summary: The CNA provides high quality patient care under the supervision of nursing staff in the emergency department.
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class III
Qualifications:
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Personal Job-related Skills: Ability to work all shifts including day, night, weekends, and holidays as needed. Basic computer skills.
· Licensure, Registry or Certification: Texas Nursing Assistant Certification required. BLS obtained within three (3) months of hire.
· Experience: Six (6) months of experience in a medical setting strongly preferred.
· Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written and verbal instructions or directions.
· Physical exertion as well as hazardous work conditions; this may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:
· Provides basic care to patients in accordance with nursing standards and under the direction of the registered nurses in the department.
· Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff and other ancillary departments regarding the treatment and care of all patients.
· Orders, stocks, and ensure supplies are current within the department.
· Cleans and prepares patient rooms with necessary items such as blankets, pillows, and working equipment.
· Measures and records accurate vital signs in patient’s electronic records according to facility policy.
· Assists patients with feeding, bathing, and toileting.
· Prepares patients for exams and assists nurses/physicians with patient exams as directed.
· Other duties as assigned by RN.
Other Significant Requirements:
· Maintain HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters daily.
· Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Eastland Memorial Hospital District.
· Adheres to dress code outlined in EMH handbook.
· Completes annual education requirements.
· Maintains all required certifications and licenses per regulatory standards.
· Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
· Attends all staff meeting as scheduled by the ED manager.

Work Schedule:
Rotating 12-hour shifts that include day, evening, night, weekends, and some holidays with a 30-minute lunch break.
Requirements
Licensure, Registry or Certification:
· Texas Nursing Assistant certification / Medical Assistant preferred.
· Current BLS or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
