CNC Lathe Machinist Setup & Operator

People Architects is proud to partner with a privately held manufacturing company in Strongsville, Ohio, on a confidential search for an experienced CNC Lathe Operator/Set-Up Technician.

This hands-on role is key to keeping production running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes (primarily Okuma), inspecting parts to ensure they meet tight tolerances, and helping maintain a safe, organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, especially Okuma machines


• Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T


• Use precision tools like micrometers, calipers, thread rings, and comparators


• Perform routine maintenance and adjustments using common hand tools


• Complete quality control checks and documentation


• Offset tooling, change inserts, and make adjustments to stay within spec


• Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues as needed


• Maintain safety standards and follow all company policies


• Work independently and collaborate with team members in a fast-paced setting

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent


• 3–5 years of experience setting up and running CNC lathes


• Comfortable working with minimal supervision


• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills


• Clear communication and a strong work ethic
