Job Overview

Professional Search Group OC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Mill-turn Set-up technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up complex CNC lathe and mill-turn machines to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in machine setup, programming, and measurement will ensure high-quality production runs, efficiency, and adherence to strict specifications. Duties

• Set up and operate CNC lathe and mill-turn machines, ensuring proper installation of tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to technical drawings and specifications
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G-code, M-code, and CAM programming software to optimize machining processes
• Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to accurately produce parts
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement tools for quality control and inspection purposes
• Conduct machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and ensure consistent part quality
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols; utilize manual machining tools when necessary for setup or troubleshooting
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining issues promptly and improve manufacturing processes through lean manufacturing principles

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathe machines with mill-turn capabilities in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and Mazatrol controls
• Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs for interpreting technical drawings
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and understand GD&T specifications for precision machining
• Skilled in using measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools for quality assurance
• Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining tools, tooling selection, grinding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and tooling maintenance
• Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus but not required
• Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances in machining operations
• Commitment to safety standards and continuous improvement practices within a lean manufacturing environment
