CNC Machinist

EDUCATION/TRAINING:   High School Diploma or GED with machining certificate from a reputable trade school preferred or demonstrated experience in industrial machining.      

SPECIAL SKILLS: The employee must have a thorough knowledge of blueprint reading, the use of precision measuring equipment, and a general understanding of G-code programming. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Follow set-up sheets and programming notes to set up mills, lathes, grinders, and other CNC machines to produce parts per the blueprint and engineering specifications.  Must be able to set tool dimensions per the CNC program.

·         Run CNC machines to produce parts meeting specifications while meeting production schedules efficiently. 

·         Verify the shop floor documentation and blueprint have the same revision level.

·         Complete work orders in an order specified by the supervisor or scheduling system.

·         Optimize cutter and/or insert usage to maximize the number of parts machined while minimizing non-conforming material.

·         Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.

·         Clock on and off jobs, enter quantity complete, enter scrap, etc. on the shop floor scheduling system.

·         Follow all safety requirements.  Read, understand, and always follow job-specific JSA and work safely. 

·         Sustain the 5S ratings of the work area.

·         Participate in continuous improvement activities in the assigned work area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

·         Standing for up to 12 hours per day.

·         Lift to 50 lbs. unassisted.

·         Frequent bending, and stooping.
