Job Description - CNC Machinist - 3P-2A

Job Summary:

CNC Machinist 1 will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision metal parts with little supervision. This includes loading existing programs, setting up existing fixtures, performing first-piece inspection, and using basic inspection tools to verify part quality. They may need to make repairs to machine tools or maintain industrial machines by applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. They will adhere to all Bandit safety, quality, inventory and production guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC Mills and Haas Lathes using existing programs and processes.

Load, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools and materials on machines.

Read blueprints and job travelers to understand dimensions and specifications.

Measure finished parts using dial indicators and/or other tools to ensure conformance to specifications.

Monitor machine operation to ensure accurate cuts and identify obvious defects or malfunctions.

Perform minor program edits or offsets as directed.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Check and maintain proper fluid levels in machine.

Report quality issues, tooling wear, or machine concerns to leadership.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Three (3) years’ experience (work experience or schooling) with CNC machines preferred.

Basic knowledge of G&M coding required.

Ability to edit and alter tool offsets.

Ability to read and use precision tools, basic shop math, and able to read a blueprint.

Basic written and verbal communication skills

Complete Bandit’s crane and/or forklift safety training

Physical Requirements:

Frequently stand, walk, push, pull, stoop, pinch, grasp, and/or bend Requires employee to work both inside/outside in heat/cold, and/or wet/humid conditions.

Frequently required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injury.

Frequently lift 50 pounds

Occasionally lift 60 pounds
