Position Title: CNC LATHE OPERATOR
Department: Machine finishing
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Primary Responsibility:
Operates CNC lathes to machine product to customer specifications. May also perform miscellaneous secondary work using manual machines such as lathes, mills and saws.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Studies and interprets drawings, roll tags, manuals to determine specifications and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Efficiently sets up and operates machine tools. This includes loading programs and making tool offsets, loading and unloading product and running machinery.
- Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine as required ensuring product is machined to customer specifications.
- Troubleshoots process and makes basic adjustments to set up.
- Deburrs product.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions on equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area.
- Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/ Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ Years experience with Mazak CNC Lathe Set Up and operation with Mazatrol conversational programming.
- Must be able to read blueprints, read micrometers and calipers.
Other Candidate Qualifications
- Good mechanical skills
- Good shop math skills
- Familiarization with computer technology
- Must be able to work overtime when requested.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 35 lbs. frequently
- Stand for extended periods - 2 hour periods
- Some overtime required
