CNC Machinist Wire EDM Programmer/Operator

Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced CNC Machinist with strong Wire EDM expertise for a precision manufacturing environment in Knoxville, TN. This is a hands-on role for a highly skilled machinist who requires minimal training beyond learning company-specific products and processes.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines, with the ability to independently produce high-precision parts from blueprints and GD&T specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines
• Program and edit G-code at the machine control
• Work with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
• Perform tooling setup, fixturing, alignment, and workholding
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges
• Troubleshoot machining and EDM processes as needed
• Complete production and quality documentation
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a safe work area

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of CNC machining and Wire EDM experience
• Strong setup and operation experience with CNC mills and lathes
• Experience programming/editing G-code at the machine
• Experience with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T drawings
• Strong shop math and precision measurement skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Makino CNC machines
• Familiarity with Esprit or Mastercam software
• Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive, mold & die, or precision manufacturing environments

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site manufacturing position located in Knoxville, TN (37932). Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Relocation assistance is not available.
