Job Description for: CNC Programmer
Purpose of Job:
This position reports to the Machining Supervisor and Machining Manager and is responsible for programming the Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machining centers along with general computer and Computer Aided Design (CAD) practices and Vero International Software Inc (VISI).
Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses:
This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Machining, design, and setup experience is a plus.
Minimum experience required:
5 years machining and CNC setup experience, communication, organized, computer proficient, familiar with CAD systems and/or VERO international software Inc. (VISI).
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge of complete machining fundamentals from receiving of steel to final inspection
2. Knowledge of what details are and their use in the die, fixture, gage, transfer, etc.
3. Ability to communicate all process flow information to fellow associates
4. Total control of filling out all necessary paperwork that goes along with programs. Programs that are legible, accurate and understandable
5. Maintains an orderly filing system in office for all CNC mill programs to assure they are all up to current date level
6. Can program all 2D geometry for CNC mills with highest production and zero errors
7. Can program all 3D geometry for CNC mills with highest production and zero errors
8. General understanding of computer to assist with all programming responsibilities
9. Can operate CAD MAX to assist with all program responsibilities
10. Can operator VISI to assist with all program responsibilities
11. Basic understanding and operation of the post-processor to assist with all computer aided machining (CAM) processes
12. Can perform basic maintenance of printer-plotter to assist with job function
13. Any other duties as assigned (like running of equipment when programming is caught up)
14. Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.

Lean: Participate in and support lean manufacturing programs and principles with a focus to reduce costs with quality product such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Suggestion System, etc. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement to continually strive to improve our processes and procedures. Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
Environmental: Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by Batesville Tool & Die, Inc. (BTD). Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment. Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.
Other: Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.

The employee is continually required to sit. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or touch. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulders. The employee will also be required to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. .
