Our client is a well-established, third-generation family-owned precision sheet metal fabrication and contract manufacturing company with decades of industry experience and approximately 180 employees. The organization operates a highly integrated manufacturing environment supporting customers across industries including telecommunications, electronics, medical, transportation, automotive, and office equipment. With more than 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space, the company provides services spanning design for manufacturing, tooling, sheet metal fabrication, stamping, machining, robotic welding, assembly, finishing, and high-volume production. This is a collaborative, values-driven organization that emphasizes quality, teamwork, accountability, and an internal customer-service mindset. The position is onsite on 1st shift at the company's Rochester-area facility, with occasional flexibility to support operations during an upcoming facility consolidation.
About the Role
The CNC Blanking Programmer will support the programming and production of precision sheet metal components, working closely with the manufacturing floor to ensure programs are accurate, efficient, and production-ready.
Responsibilities
Program multiple types of CNC equipment, including press brakes, laser turrets, and blanking equipment
Build and optimize nests using customer-supplied models, drawings, and prints
Utilize SolidWorks and CNC programming software to develop production-ready programs
Work with Amada VPSS 4iE Blank for blanking and nesting applications
Support press brake programming and other sheet metal programming requirements
Respond to shop-floor programming questions and assist with setup-related issues
Close Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) and address pre-production review action items
Review customer models and prints to ensure manufacturability and programming accuracy
Collaborate with engineering, production, and other internal teams to resolve manufacturing issues
Help identify opportunities to improve programming efficiency, material utilization, and production processes
Support the manufacturing team during the company's planned facility transition as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have hands-on CNC programming experience within a sheet metal fabrication environment, along with strong CAD skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production personnel.
Required Skills
Previous CNC programming experience is required
SolidWorks experience is required
Sheet metal fabrication experience is required; machining-only CNC experience will not meet the requirements
Experience programming CNC blanking, laser, press brake, or similar sheet metal equipment
Experience working from customer drawings, models, and prints
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes
Amada VPSS 4iE Blank experience is strongly preferred
Experience with Dr. Abe Bend is highly preferred
Radan experience is highly preferred
Press brake programming experience is a plus
Plex experience is a plus
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to troubleshoot programming and production issues
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Stable employment history and demonstrated commitment to previous employers
