CNC Swiss Setup Technician

Position Summary:

The CNC Swiss Setup Technician plays a critical role in manufacturing by setting up and operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. This position is pivotal in ensuring that precision parts and components are produced to meet strict quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a methodical work ethic, advanced technical skills, and a thorough understanding of various machining processes.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Set up and operate CNC Swiss lathes and potentially other machines to produce precision parts according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, programs, and work orders.
• Write, modify, and test CNC programs for various parts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on CNC machines to ensure proper functioning.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, tolerance, and surface finish, identifying and addressing any issues.
• Work with other team members, including programmers, engineers, and other technicians, to ensure smooth production.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when operating CNC machinery and support equipment.

Non-essential Responsibilities: 

• Performs other duties as directed, including but not limited to maintenance tasks and cleaning workstation.

Skills and Abilities:

• Three years of experience as a CNC Swiss Setup Technician.
• Proficiency in operating CNC Swiss-style lathes and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret CNC programs, machining processes, and precision manufacturing techniques.
• Understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to CNC machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints and a willingness to learn geometric dimensions and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and tools relevant to quality assurance processes.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection techniques.
• Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude, with an ability to effectively diagnose issues in machinery and tools.
• A keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities to ensure high-quality output.
