CNC Vertical Mill Machinist Mazak (1st Shift)

Position Overview: -

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team to operate and maintain our Mazak mill. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Mazak machining centers and be capable of producing precision components to exact specifications. A strong knowledge of machining fundamentals, Mazatrol control systems, blueprint reading, and workholding strategies is essential to deliver high-quality parts and maintain production schedules.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.


• Proficient in making simple programs using conversational Mazak Mazatrol control system.


• Perform own setups independently, including tooling, work and tool offset configuration, and creative work holding techniques for varied part geometries.


• Machine parts of various sizes, including large and heavy workpieces that require the use of an overhead hoist for safe handling and positioning when necessary.


• Occasionally climb in and out of the machine to position parts, perform setups, and make adjustments.


• Use precision measurement instruments to ensure parts conform to specifications.


• Hold tolerances of +/- .0015” per job requirements.


• Conduct in-process inspections, document quality checks, and make precise adjustments.


• Monitor machine performance and intervene when adjustments are needed to ensure efficiency and quality.


• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and workspace.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.


• Adhere to all safety and quality protocols.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including operation of vertical machining centers.


• Prior experience with Mazak FJV-60/120, Mazak VTC250D/50-60/120 or similar machines is strongly preferred.


• Must have basic machinist tools or be willing to purchase as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Must be physically capable and comfortable with climbing in and out of large mill enclosures many times throughout a shift.
