Job Description - Coach Recruitment & Training Manager


Location: Los Angeles County, California — hybrid administrative work with regular in-person training and school-site travel

Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $35.00- $40.00 per hour

Reports To: Founder/CEO or designated Program Director

Works Closely With: Adaptive Program Lead, Operations, Site Coordinators, Head Coaches, Administrative Staff, and School-Site Leadership







Coach Recruitment & Training Manager

Seeking a hands-on Coach Recruitment & Training Manager to lead the complete coach talent pipeline—from sourcing and evaluating candidates to training, field qualification, placement readiness, and early performance follow-up. This role ensures every coach can safely lead youth, teach sports and movement skills, follow required procedures, and represent the organization professionally in school and adaptive‑program settings.

What You’ll Do



  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Adaptive Coaches, substitutes, interns, and seasonal staff.


  • Recruit through colleges, athletic departments, coaching networks, youth organizations, job boards, and community partners.


  • Screen candidates, conduct structured interviews, run practical auditions, and evaluate real coaching ability.


  • Coordinate all pre-employment requirements (references, background checks, TB, mandated reporter training, certifications).


  • Deliver orientation, training, and coach qualification pathways—including adaptive-coach modules and assessments.


  • Oversee supervised field practice, placement readiness, and documented handoffs to site leadership.


  • Complete 30-, 60-, and 90-day performance reviews and provide corrective coaching when needed.


  • Maintain accurate records, dashboards, and weekly recruiting/training reports.


  • Ensure no coach is placed before completing all required training, documentation, and approvals.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Degree in kinesiology, PE, recreation, education, youth development, HR, or related field


  • Experience supporting children with disabilities or individualized needs


  • Adaptive PE, special education, behavior support, or therapeutic recreation background


  • College athlete or experienced youth-sports coach


  • Bilingual English/Spanish


Schedule & Conditions

Weekday role with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends. Requires travel to training sites, schools, auditions, and field observations. Must be able to demonstrate sports activities and work outdoors.






Requirements

Required Qualifications



  • 3+ years youth sports coaching, PE, recreation, or similar direct-service experience


  • 2+ years recruiting, staff training, supervision, or workforce development


  • Ability to coach children and train adults


  • Experience evaluating performance and giving constructive feedback


  • Strong organization, communication, and follow-through


  • Comfort with ATS systems, Google Workspace, video conferencing, and mobile reporting tools


  • Reliable transportation across Los Angeles County


  • CPR/First Aid (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
