CoAx Splicer - Topeka

Description

Coax Splicer will be responsible for splicing coax cable in a production-based operation. This is a safety sensitive position.

Duties/Responsibilities

· Connect new build and replace coaxial cable according to customer specifications.

· Collect and document signal and leakage checks after splicing is completed.

· Troubleshoot to resolve signal problems, including, but not limited to, existing aerial and underground coaxial cable.

· Perform splicing in overhead and underground environments.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to read RF signal meters and interpret existing HFC plan design.

· Experience in coax mainline splicing and RF setup

· Must have knowledge of installation of equipment such as nodes, amplifiers, passives

· Knowledge of forward and return RF signal

· Experience with climbing utility poles and ladders as needed

· Interpret underground and aerial prints to complete daily work

· Proficient use of hand tools, meters, and required equipment (Wrenches, coring tools, drills, RF signal meter, ladders, lanyards, etc.)

· Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

· Available to be on-call, work in emergencies, nights and weekends if needed, including but not limited to, holidays and extended work hours

· Ability to work in all weather conditions

· Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

· Valid Driver’s License required; CDL License is a plus

· Authorized to work in the United States

· Work safely, with or without supervision, following all company and OSHA related health and safety rules.

· Effectively communicate and interact with customers, co-employees and third parties.

· Work in urban environment with excellent people skills

· Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

· 5+ Years’ experience

Physical Requirements

· Ability to work standing, lifting arms at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods in various weather conditions

· Ability to work aloft, either from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by pole gaffing, often lifting weights 50-75 lbs.

· Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces

· Must have manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools and equipment.

· Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.

· Must be able to hear well enough to receive verbal instructions from a distance.
