Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Collaboration Engineer to lead the design, integration, and implementation of enterprise collaboration systems in support of the Department of Energy’s Network Operations Division. This role is central to enabling secure, efficient, and scalable communication and collaboration capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Collaboration System Design & Integration
Lead projects involving the design, integration, and deployment of collaboration platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise‑wide applications.
Define system requirements, develop technical specifications, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Integrate diverse technologies including networks, servers, software applications, and cloud‑based collaboration tools.
Project Engineering & Technical Expertise
Provide expertise in cost estimation, schedule planning, performance evaluation, and risk assessment.
Support configuration management, systems design, and lifecycle sustainment for collaboration technologies.
Ensure traceability across design artifacts and maintain documentation throughout the system lifecycle.
Operations, Troubleshooting & Advanced Support
Evaluate and troubleshoot collaboration systems to ensure seamless interoperability and optimal performance.
Deliver advanced administrative training and operational support for collaboration tools.
Analyze system performance impacts and recommend enhancements to improve reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
Quality Assurance & Systems Integration
Advise on systems integration strategies and quality assurance for software products and collaboration solutions.
Assess emerging technologies and provide recommendations to support modernization and mission objectives.
Contribute to multi‑assignment projects, driving operational efficiency and technical excellence.
Compliance & Operational Support
Provide mission‑critical support aligned with DOE/NR Orders, guidelines, directives, and policies.
Adapt to evolving deliverables, performance standards, and timelines as directed by DOE.
Ensure all work adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements.
Training & Qualification
Maintain all required certifications and qualifications relevant to assigned tasks.
Complete periodic refresher and annual training as required by the Contracting Officer and Network Operations Manager.
Maintain accurate logs of training completion and compliance.
Required Qualifications
Experience designing, integrating, and supporting enterprise collaboration systems.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, networks, servers, and software integration.
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex collaboration platforms and related infrastructure.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L‑Level security clearance (Q‑Level may be required).
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting federal agencies or secure facilities.
Certifications related to collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom, M365), systems engineering, or project management.
Experience with configuration management, quality assurance, and lifecycle sustainment.
Familiarity with DOE environments, NIST standards, or other regulated frameworks.
