O'Neal Steel has an open position for Collection Specialist at our Birmingham, AL or Mobile, AL facility

General Description:
Under limited supervision, and on own initiative, performs routine customer collection duties. Provide assistance to Credit Manager and Credit Analyst(s) with support tasks. Handle routine customer inquiries.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

• Primary focus relates to initiating collection of past due accounts for assigned customers
  and assist Credit Analyst(s) with collection efforts as directed.


• Ensure that the collection efforts are being carried out in a timely manner by effectively
  using customer calls, correspondence, automated processes, etc.


• Act within the bounds of the credit policy.


• Provide credit references to third parties.


• Respond to customer inquiries concerning account issues, requests for invoice copies,
  proof of deliveries, statements, and screen other inquiries to the appropriate
  department.


• Assist in researching deductions made by customers and handle expeditiously.


• Assist Team in meeting or beating established key performance indicators (KPI’s) and
  other benchmarks or objectives.


• Assist other team members or credit teams as requested by the Credit
  Manager.


• Attend and participate in O’Neal Credit meetings, as directed by the Credit
  Manager.


• Embrace LEAN initiatives to seek continuous improvement which will add value for our
  customers, will lower costs, and will improve efficiencies.


• Release credit holds upon direction of the Credit Manager or Credit Analyst.
  Education and Experience Requirements:


• High school diploma or equivalent


• Basic knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping concepts- collection experience preferred.

Desirable Skills and Abilities:

• JD Edwards/One World


• Cforia


• Basic credit concepts


• Effective verbal and written communication, analysis and interpretation, interpersonal,
  motivation, and organization


• Familiar with personal computer applications (spreadsheet, word processing, etc.)


• Concentration and productivity in high pressure situations
