Collections Investigator Supervisor positions supervise and train Collections Investigators in collecting and investigating delinquent accounts; handle highly complex or sensitive delinquent debt cases; review legal packages for appropriate legal documents; maintain records and prepare reports; prepare and refer cases to the City Attorney's office, then monitor, coordinate and assist with the cases, as required; and perform other duties as assigned. NOTES: Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases: 4% effective 7/1/24 2% effective 1/1/25 5% effective 7/1/25 Eligible benefited employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS). You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated. EXPERIENCE : Three years of full-time experience performing debt collections and investigations on charged-off accounts with a collection agency, financial institution, law office, or government agency. NOTES: Clerical support; accounts receivables; and bookkeeping experience are NOT qualifying. City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
LICENSE : A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire. HIGHLY DESIRABLE : Experience and/or knowledge in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and California's Rosenthal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Completion of college-level course work related to civil litigation process and procedures. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
