Collections Paralegal

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Collections Paralegal to support our legal and collections team. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in managing collection matters from pre-litigation through post-judgment enforcement, ensuring compliance with Kansas laws and regulations.

Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

• Draft and prepare legal documents including demand letters, complaints, summons, and motions.
• File documents electronically with Kansas courts and manage service of process.
• Perform legal research related to Kansas collection laws, bankruptcy filings, and judgment enforcement.
• Monitor and manage deadlines, court calendars, and case progress.
• Assist attorneys with case preparation for hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
• Communicate with debtors, opposing counsel, courts, and clients professionally and in compliance with the FDCPA and applicable state law.
• Maintain and organize case files and database entries, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Help initiate and monitor garnishments, liens, and other post-judgment remedies under Kansas law.
• Provide administrative support as needed, including docket management and billing entries.
• Be the company representative in small claims court.
• All other duties assigned by supervisor

Pay and Benefits: 

• Full-time salaried position
• Monday-Friday 8am-5pm *In office position 
• Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits after 30 days of employment.
• PTO Accrual after 30 days of employment. 
• 401K after 6 months of employment
• $50k - $60k salary, based on experience!

• Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, litigation, or creditor’s rights law.
• Familiarity with Kansas legal procedures and court e-filing systems (e.g., KS eCourt).
• Strong understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and related regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software (e.g., Clio, PracticePanther).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle a high-volume caseload.
• Experience in a law firm or legal department focused on creditor’s rights or consumer collections. PREFERRED
• Notary Public license in the State of Kansas. PREFERRED
