Job Description: Commercial Account Manager – Outside Sales Representative
The Commercial Account Manager – Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing and maintaining strong business relationships with local companies, government agencies, and fleet operators to grow the dealership’s commercial and fleet sales. This role involves outside prospecting, client relationship development, and offering tailored commercial vehicle solutions. It is a strategic role aimed at expanding the dealership’s footprint in the commercial market by offering fleet vehicles, small business solutions, and custom upfit packages.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Build trust and loyalty with business owners, fleet managers, and purchasing agents through consistent communication, honest guidance, and attentive follow-up.
- Prospect continually for new business for all the Stuckey OEMs. Ensure there is a daily plan to grow our business outside of our area. Track and report to Regional Sales Director on logistics and strategy.
- Identify and research target industries (Construction, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, specialty vehicles).
- Work with Commercial Service Manager (Prospecting, Quality Fleet Care, etc.).
- Prospect and generate leads via cold calls, field visits, local networking events, and chambers of commerce.
- Maintain a consistent pipeline of commercial prospects and opportunities.
- Work with the Regional Sales Director and other Commercial Account Managers to properly stock commercial vehicles.
- Quote and close all opportunities for all business owners, commercial retail, and fleet including private businesses, government, and municipalities.
- Conduct on-site visits to prospective and existing clients to understand their business needs.
- Serve as the primary dealership contact for all commercial client needs, from vehicle selection to service.
- Achieve OEM certification for all Stuckey Automotive fleet and commercial dealerships (Ford, GMC, CDJR).
- Develop tailored financing, leasing, and purchase options in coordination with the finance departments.
- Coordinate vehicle customization with upfitters for shelving, toolboxes, ladder racks, branding decals, etc.
- Create and maintain detailed records for each commercial account, including vehicle history, buying patterns, and service schedules.
- Provide post-sale support, including delivery coordination, registration, and service follow-ups.
- Offer fleet maintenance programs and service contracts (Ford Telematics, VSC’s, Simonize, Diesel care, etc.).
- Use CRM software to log activities, leads, follow-ups, and performance metrics.
- Provide weekly/monthly sales activity reports and forecasts to sales management.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Must have excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills.
- 2–5 years of outside sales or B2B account management experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations, small business needs, or vehicle financing.
- OEM Commercial/Fleet Sales Certification.
