ProTech Mechanical, a Crete United company, is looking for an experienced Commercial Chiller Service Technician to join our South Texas service team.
This is an advanced field position for a technician with extensive experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large commercial chillers and chilled-water systems. You’ll work on complex equipment, serve as a trusted technical resource, and have the support of an established mechanical contractor with steady, year-round work.

What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, repair, overhaul, and maintain commercial chillers and chilled-water systems
- Troubleshoot control panels, compressors, pumps, VFDs, cooling towers, and related components
- Perform testing, equipment logging, disassembly, reassembly, and planned maintenance
- Monitor and interpret operating data to identify issues and help prevent system outages
- Complete service-agreement work, quoted repairs, and demand-service calls
- Coordinate work on larger repairs and complex service projects
- Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to other service technicians
- Clearly explain findings, recommendations, and completed work to customers
- Coordinate materials, subcontractors, and workflow when needed
- Accurately document service activity using mobile reporting software
- Maintain assigned tools, equipment, parts, and vehicle inventory
- Follow all company safety, driving, and fleet requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Seven or more years of commercial chiller service experience
- OEM experience or factory chiller training
- Advanced chiller control-panel troubleshooting experience
- Experience performing centrifugal chiller overhauls
- Strong knowledge of chilled-water plants and system controls
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
- Professional, customer-focused communication
- High school diploma or GED
- Applicable licenses, registrations, and certifications
A two-year technical degree or additional manufacturer training is preferred but not required.
Technical Experience
Qualified candidates should have experience with several of the following:
- DX and air-cooled chillers
- Scroll, reciprocating, screw, centrifugal, and magnetic-bearing compressors
- Airside and waterside system controls
- Pumps, VFDs, and cooling towers
- Building automation systems
- OEM diagnostic software such as TechView, Service Checker, or MTool
- Complex mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints
Experience across every manufacturer or system type is not required. We’re interested in technicians with a strong chiller foundation who can confidently troubleshoot complex commercial equipment.

Physical and Work Requirements
This field-based role includes work indoors, outdoors, in mechanical rooms, and on active jobsites. Technicians may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and vibration. The position requires the ability to climb ladders, work at heights, kneel, crawl, handle equipment and materials, and meet applicable respiratory-protection and safety requirements.
