Commercial Insurance - Marketer or Risk Placement Specialist

Position Summary:

This individual will manage the marketing aspects for a Commercial Lines team. This person will be responsible for knowing the market and appetite of various carriers for the placement of S&S business. This person will be responsible for marketing new and renewal business with approved S&S carriers and wholesalers to negotiate the best terms and conditions, and rates for the client.

This role strictly adheres to our Corporate Standards of Excellence and procedural guidelines spelled out in our Professional Procedure Manual.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Market new and renewal business.
2. Check quotes received against applications and make changes accordingly.
3. Display working knowledge of carriers’ various insurance products.
4. Manage ImageRight to do lists.
5. Attach all pertinent marketing documents to the ImageRight system.
6. Advise and assist Account Executives and Account Managers when needed.
7. Display working knowledge of binding authority for each carrier.
8. Attend expiration meetings.
9. Provide guidance on coverage and forms and educate Account Executives and Account Managers.
10. Utilize online company rating on carrier sites as needed.
11. Attend professional education courses as requested by Starkweather & Shepley.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

1. Fluency in MS Office products.
2. Superior verbal and written communication skills.
3. Strong negotiation skills.
4. Strong knowledge of insurance coverage and terminology.
5. Ability to multitask and operate in an ever-changing environment is critical.
6. Ability to work well in a team environment.
7. Ability to communicate clearly, to work well with others, and to manage time effectively.

Education and Experience:

1. Producer license is Mandatory.
2. CPCU and/or AAI or CIC or AIS designations preferred
3. 5+ years’ experience at an Insurance agency.
4. Must have reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to clients and/or branch offices when necessary.
5. Must be able to maintain a stationary position for up to three hours at a time.
6. Must be able to traverse throughout the office throughout the day.
7. Transport a minimum of five pounds.
8. Sitting for up to seven hours per day.
9. Traversing up and down between first and second floor at least two times a day.
10. Working on a computer with multiple monitors for seven hours per day.
11. Speaking and listening clearly during telephone conversations.
