JOB TYPE: Full-time

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Institute of Creative & Media Arts is seeking a qualified full-time seated faculty member with an open rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: Commercial Voice, Commercial Music Theory, Popular/Jazz/Gospel Keyboard, Songwriting, and Arranging. Other responsibilities may include directing a traditional choir, pop or jazz vocal group, or a gospel music ensemble. This position will begin in August 2025 and is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment.  

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaching face-to-face classes and private music lessons at the undergraduate level in the Institute of Creative and Media Arts. Instruction areas may include Commercial Voice, Popular/Jazz/Gospel Keyboard, Commercial Music Theory, Songwriting, and Arranging.
• Lead a commercial music, choral, or gospel music ensemble.
• Demonstrate a commitment to working collaboratively and collegially in activities, projects, and programs that support program growth and student success.
• Attend department, school, and university meetings, serving on university, school, and other committees as appointed.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Supervise internships and individually guided studies.
• Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Dean.
• Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
• Demonstrate personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Tiffin University’s Guiding Principles.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education

• A master's degree in music is preferred. Candidates with extensive professional commercial music and music industry experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Required: Commercial or jazz or piano/keyboard teaching and performing experience, commercial or jazz voice teaching and performing experience.
• Preferred: Experience teaching music theory, musicianship, and arranging, experience in recording studio production.
