Job Overview: Leads on-site installations to ensure timely completion, high quality of service, and cost-effective management of dealer labor and installation resources. Functions as crew leader on all projects.
Responsibilities:
Personal and Interpersonal Skills
Can train installers and instruct temporary help/trainee employees.
Comfortable and professional with crew and customers, professional in appearance and manners.
Has good oral and written communication skills.
Provides leadership and earns the respect of crews.
Has a strong work ethic and a very ethical approach to the business; is punctual and self-motivated.
Technical and Product Skills
Understands installation scope of work and processes.
Can read plans, blueprints, elevations, and product specifications.
Mechanically adept and knows how to safely use tools and equipment.
Skilled at installation of furniture, ensuring projects meet high-quality standards that align with the dealership’s field standards of performance.
Can perform all technical installation operations, including wall-hung cleats, field measuring, minor product repairs, simple field round cuts, and product modifications.
Product knowledgeable across all major lines of furniture carried by the dealer.
Can specify products and conduct inventories; understands correct product application and use.
Knowledgeable of electricity and electrical hookups to build power; can interface with electricians and cabling subcontractors.
Responsibility and Decision-Making Skills
Takes ownership of project results and details—follows through to project completion.
Capable of adapting to varying project/field conditions and able to make decisions to solve problems and address changes in the scope of work.
Administrative Skills
Understands and follows through with consistent and accurate paperwork—detailed time sheets, client signoffs, punch list items, change orders, product return forms, inventory check-out, etc.
Ensures paperwork is neat, clear, intelligible, and complete.
Communicates project status, problems, and punch list via PlanGrid and/or Core, keeping the team (Sales/PC/PM) updated.
Project and Installation Management Skills
Can plan, organize, and effectively direct a crew of installers on projects.
Understands the diversity of different projects and prepares for them by:
Pursuing project details and drawings.
Assisting with scheduling and manpower loading for the project.
Planning for field conditions, technical complexities, and task-to-time efficiencies.
Can manage crews of up to 15 installers.
Can function as a crew chief under a field supervisor on large or complex projects.
Can pre-plan projects of all sizes, including field measurements and site reviews.
Analyzes projects for correct tool, supply, equipment, and vehicle requirements, as well as small parts and product pulls from the warehouse.
Can punch and close out a project, using proper procedures and forms.
Available to travel out of town for deliveries and/or installations.
Other Technical Skills
Comfortable driving a bobtail and can do so safely.
Understands furniture material handling and logistical processes.
Can receive and document receipt of products in a thorough and accurate manner.
Capable of lifting heavy products and equipment, up to 60 lbs.
Can work long and non-standard hours.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Strong furniture installation experience, including lead responsibilities on small to medium projects.
In-depth furniture product knowledge, including product application, assembly, specification, repair/maintenance, receipt and inspection, and custom applications.
Good crew supervision and leadership skills; labor management expertise and abilities.
Strong administrative skills and organization.
Ability to analyze, plan, and manage small to medium projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with a wide range of people both within and outside the company.
Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in business transactions, providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.
