Commercial Pipefitter-Welder Helpers/Apprentices

Rogers Building Solutions, Coastal Mechanical Business Unit, one of the largest mechanical contractors in the Southeast, is currently seeking pipefitter-welder helpers to work in our Melbourne, Fl prefabrication shop location to start. This is a Safety Sensitive position

• Some construction/pipefitting experience preferred but will train the right candidate.
• Some welding experience preferred
• Support pipefitters in cutting, beveling, threading, and grooving various piping materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, etc.).
• Measure and mark pipe for layout cuts using blueprints or shop drawings.
• Prep pipe ends and fittings for welding or mechanical joining.
• Pull materials and fittings based on fabrication tickets or spool sheets.
• Organize and stage piping assemblies for welders or fitters.
• Safely operate pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified) to move heavy materials
• Assist in interpreting simple drawings and spool sheets to lay out piping assemblies under supervision.
• Help confirm correct dimensions and fitting orientations.
• Set up and maintain tools and equipment (pipe stands, threading machines, grinders, etc.).
• Clean and maintain shop workstations to support productivity and safety.
• Help align and clamp pipes, install hangers/supports, and prepare sections for welding or mechanical joints (e.g., Victaulic, flanged, etc.).
• Assist in quality control steps like labeling, measuring, and visual inspection.
• Wear required PPE and follow all shop safety protocols (LOTO, hot work permits, etc.).
• Report unsafe conditions or damaged tools/equipment.

Essential Functions:

· Climbing up and down ladders

· Push, pull and frequently carry objects as tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. –

· Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. – Stand and walk for long periods of time. –

· See and hear well with or without correction to avoid safety hazards to themselves and others.

· Overtime and weekend availability, regular attendance

· Work in heat and various other weather conditions

· Travel to current job sites within Florida
