At Kalos Services, our Commercial Refrigeration team is known for delivering high-quality installations for major retailers and commercial clients across Central Florida. We’re now hiring a Start-Up Technician who can take our projects across the finish line by powering up, testing, and verifying complex refrigeration systems so they're ready for smooth, long-term operation.
This is a field-based role for a detail-oriented refrigeration pro who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and ensuring every detail is correct before handoff.
Compensation: $28 - $35 hourly based on experience
Schedule: Will fluctuate depending on projects and work load, but will usually be between 40/50 plus hours per week. Some night work and on call will be required.
Responsibilities:
Power up and commission new commercial refrigeration systems (rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, etc.)
Program setpoints and verify functionality for all major control systems (Emerson, CPC, Danfoss, etc.)
Perform pressure and leak tests, electrical checks, and refrigerant charge adjustments Diagnose and correct any start-up issues with electrical, piping, or mechanical components
Ensure all systems meet manufacturer specs and job requirements before turnover
Document start-up conditions, commissioning data, and punch list items
Collaborate with installation crews, controls technicians, and project managers
Help ensure a smooth transition to service/maintenance teams
Requirements
2+ years of commercial refrigeration installation, service, or start-up experience
Strong knowledge of rack refrigeration, condensers, evaporators, and controls
Ability to troubleshoot and tune superheat, subcooling, airflow, and refrigerant charge
Comfortable reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
EPA 608 Certification (Required)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record Willingness to travel regionally to job sites (per diem provided when applicable)
