Position Overview We are seeking a driven Commercial Sales Engineer to support and grow our customer base in the Twin Cities market. This role combines technical expertise with relationship-focused sales, delivering reliable solutions across mechanical systems. The Commercial Sales Engineer will play a key role in building long-term partnerships, supporting our expansion, and upholding Ellingson’s reputation for quality, integrity, and service excellence.



Key Responsibilities:


The Commercial Sales Engineer develops and maintains strong relationships with commercial customers while actively identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities through outreach and networking. This role is responsible for estimating and selling replacement equipment and retrofit projects while preparing accurate proposals and managing all opportunities within the CRM system.



The position collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and supports both light commercial new construction and retrofit opportunities across all trades. Additionally, the Commercial Sales Engineer stays current on equipment, codes, and available rebates or grant opportunities, while consistently tracking, reporting, and achieving established sales goals and performance metrics.



Key Qualifications:



  • Strong customer acquisition of new customers by means of cold calling, email and other strategic methods

  • Good customer service and relationship-building skills

  • Establish relationships with local general contractors

  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical experience

  • Strong estimating and system design capabilities

  • Results-driven with excellent organization and follow-through

  • Effective communicator with strong relationship-building skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

  • Knowledge of commercial codes, systems, and applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
