Job Description - Commercial Solar Project Manager




Are you an experienced solar professional seeking to greater responsibility? Would you like to have greater control over your future and the projects you manage in a fast-paced, growing industry? 






Insource Renewables, a worker-owned cooperative, Certified B Corp, and NABCEP Accredited PV Installation Company based in Pittsfield, Maine, is seeking an experienced solar photovoltaic (PV) project manager to lead the construction of commercial solar facilities with a rated capacity of up to 1MWac.







The Commercial Solar Project Manager provides construction leadership through managing Insource’s relationships with clients, state electrical inspectors, municipalities, utility regulators, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key collaborators for individual commercial solar installation projects.







As a company, we are focused on strategically and responsibly developing commercial projects that recognize appropriate land use planning, increase the resiliency of our state's electrical grid by being sited within reasonable proximity to load, and are developed in a manner that maximizes benefit to all of our stakeholders. The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to lead the construction of meaningful projects and will have the opportunity to collaborate with our CEO on efforts to implement responsible regulatory policy.







Key Responsibilities



  • Review preliminary design of commercial solar facilities, as necessary;

  • Coordinate design and construction details with designers and engineers;

  • Verify conformance of design with state electrical code;

  • Identify key equipment procurement needs that will impact project delivery timelines;

  • Manage permitting and interconnection activities related to individual commercial PV projects;

  • Identify subcontractor requirements and coordinate subcontracting activities;

  • Collaborate with the Warehouse and Procurement Specialist to procure equipment and coordinate delivery of equipment to the construction site;

  • Develop safety plan and ensure conformance of construction activities with company safety policies;

  • Develop and maintain communication plan with commercial client representative(s);

  • Supervise construction of commercial solar photovoltaic facilities;

  • Ensure compliance of construction activities with company quality standards;

  • Maintain appropriate communication with permitting, interconnection, and inspection bodies;

  • Evaluate and manage project labor and equipment budgets;

  • Report significant discrepancies between the estimated project labor and equipment budgets and actual expenditures;

  • Commission the facility, including coordinating final testing and inspections;

  • Coordinate monitoring and communication details with client representative(s);

  • Identify resources, including training, tools, and equipment, necessary for successful implementation of commercial projects;

  • Provide constructive feedback to installation staff to support continual professional growth; and

  • Demonstrate company leadership through implementation of company’s core ethics.






Requirements



The minimum qualifications for this position include:



  • Demonstrated experience as an effective leader and manager;

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification or the ability to obtain this Certification within 6 months of hire;

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience installing grid-interactive solar photovoltaic facilities;

  • Journeyperson Electrician license (Master Electrician license preferred);

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality; and

  • Two-year degree in a related field (Four-year degree preferred).
