The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to fill an interim position as a Commercial Vehicle Operations Specialist. This is an interim position with an anticipated end date of November 30, 2026. Based on departmental needs, there may be an opportunity to extend the position through April 30, 2027. Although interim, this is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience working for the State of Vermont, build professional skills, and explore future career opportunities within the DMV and other State of Vermont agencies. This role offers meaningful exposure to state government operations and the potential for continued individual and professional growth.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the finger-printing and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position. Applicants will have the right to withdraw their applications before finger-printing and/or a background investigation is conducted.
Duties are preformed predominantly in an office setting. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight deadlines and under considerable stress while in the public eye and from phone inquiries. Incumbent must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary. Private means of transportation may be required.
High School or equivalent AND four (4) or more years of experience in a customer service environment that included: use of computer programs; clerical and data entry work; applying and explaining policies/procedures or rules/regulations; and using math to complete financial transactions.
OR
Two (2) years or more of experience processing registration transactions in the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.
