Commissioning Art Director - Contract

That\u2019s where you come in!\n\nHow would you like to work with the best fantasy illustrators to make every Magic card worthy of an award?\n\nMagic: the Gathering, the world\u2019s first and best-in-class Trading Card Game, is hiring a new Contract - Commissioning Art Director!\n\n## What You\u0027ll Do:\n\n * Commission a high volume of artwork by: identifying freelance illustrators for each piece, providing continuous art direction on individual pieces, maintaining solid relationships with those partners, and providing regular updates to the card concent producer on art status.\n * Review print-ready files to ensure final card quality.\n * Participate in brainstorms on future Magic creative expressions and workflow/process improvements in partnership with department leaders.\n\n\n\n## What You\u2019ll Bring:\n\n * 2+ yrs commercial art experience.\n * A portfolio demonstrating strong creative vision with a cinematic lens.\n * Understanding of Magic as both a game and a brand.\n * Strong communication skills and comfort giving and receiving feedback.\n * High attention to detail and organization skills\n * Deep knowledge of current fantasy illustration market/talent and modern print/press techniques and processes. Have an interest in discovering diverse, emerging artists\n * Adept in Adobe Photoshop, proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).\n\n\n\n## Additional Details:\n\nPlease note that this is a temporary assignment providing services to Wizards through an external staffing agency.
