Job Description - Commissioning Engineer

Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment, and your voice is heard? We have a position for a Commissioning Engineer. The Commissioning Engineer will have to travel 70 to 80 percent of the time. The Commissioning Engineer will be working on energy storage systems. This role will require you to be outside in various conditions. This role is based out of California but will involve travel on the West Coast and potentially through out the US.

What you will be doing:
Schedule and coordinate commissioning work to tight deadlines.
Ensure that battery equipment works to its specification.
Create and carry out test procedures.
Investigate problems and diagnose and repair faults.
Be responsible for the commissioning phase of the project.
Develop relationships with the client to ensure a smooth delivery and handover.
Responsible for providing the project manager and supervisor with Progress updates and raise concerns where necessary.
Ensure the commissioning is to the appropriate levels of quality and to standards and manufacturers best practice.
Demonstrate leadership skills to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the company.
Produce and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all commissioning based activities.
Assist the production of commissioning plans, inspection test plans and training manuals.
Co-ordinate with the systems integration team to carry out all Site Acceptance Tests.
Attendance at commissioning meetings with representatives from our clients engineering and operational teams.
Demonstration of commissioned plant to our clients' representatives to gain plant sign off prior to takeover.
Completion of commissioning records and diaries ensuring that all progress and equipment settings are recorded for the O&M manuals.
Assist the design team by undertaking site visits to gather information for the purposes of tendering or design prior to construction.
Provides field engineering support to the electricians in the wiring of the substation protective relaying and control system, verifying the wiring is full complete per the design drawings.
Support several capital projects occurring at the same time. Accordingly, they rotate amongst the jobs, keeping abreast of the construction activities, reviewing test results and monitoring the work to anticipate any problems and gauge their level of involvement from a technical support perspective.

What you will need to be successful
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical/electronic engineering, or mechanical engineering, or others related to Energy Storage System (ESS).
Must have basic Energy Storage System knowledge.
Must understand how battery system works and interacts with other equipment of ESS.
Must be able to read engineering drawings and specification to understand the purpose and functionality of the battery system.
Must understand various protection schemes for proper checkout techniques and/or for troubleshooting and correcting non-working schemes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Commercially awareness.
The ability to work well under pressure.
Team working skills.
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering skills and operational knowledge in the identification and resolution of technical problems in the field during the installation phase and testing phase.
Identify and resolve design errors.
Provide administrative and technical support of field related testing and commissioning activities.
Plan, perform, coordinate, and supervise on-site testing and commissioning activities as required by project scope.
Be able to travel 70%-80%.
The preferred skills
Fluent in Chinese is highly preferred for these roles.
