We can provide entitlement, development, design, procurement, construction management, project management, expert witness and litigation support services on a variety of building types. Our experienced team have provided these services to successfully deliver various facilities for public school districts, college districts, universities, commercial developers, hospitality owners, multinational CM/PM consultants and other valued clients.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position with Los Angeles Unified School District. The ideal candidate for this position would be an experienced Commissioning Technician with at least eight years of full-time professional commissioning experience and a strong command of building codes, CHPS standards, and commissioning requirements. They will hold an ANSI-accredited commissioning certification (CxA, CxT, BCxP, or Certified Commissioning Professional) and possess extensive knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. With a bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, architecture, or construction management, the ideal candidate will excel in managing the full commissioning processfrom design reviews and functional testing to issue resolution and final reporting. They will be adept at creating commissioning plans, conducting field observations, leading meetings, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert to support project managers. Preferred qualifications include experience in design or construction management with a mechanical systems focus, an Engineer-in-Training certification or California Professional Engineering License, and an industry-recognized energy management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commissioning process on various in-house small to medium sized projects
  • Perform Commissioning design reviews, submittal reviews and closeout document reviews
  • Create pre-functioning and functional checklists and commissioning plans
  • Conduct Commissioning meetings and managing the commissioning process for assigned projects
  • Perform field observations and functional testing
  • Document and track test results on issue resolution logs
  • Create commissioning deliverables such as final commissioning reports
  • Assist in the review and development of staff training and continuing education opportunities
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Project Manager of Commissioning

Required Experience:

  • Eight (8) years full time paid professional experience in commissioning
  • Working knowledge of building code, CHPS, and commissioning requirements
  • ANSI commissioning certification (CxA, CxT, BCxP, Certified Commissioning Professional)
  • Extensive knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems

Required Education:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering, architecture or construction management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in design or construction management with a focus on mechanical systems
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification or valid CA Professional Engineering License
  • Industry- recognized energy management certification
