Communication Engineer
ATSC is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer with an in-depth understanding of wireless and wireline communication systems and related network operations centers. Successful candidates are schedule driven and data driven with the ability to simultaneously focus on short term objectives and long-term imperatives. The individual is a self-starter, self-directed and has a "can-do" attitude. The position calls for individuals who are solutions oriented, high energy, problem solvers, information and team integrators, decisive, and closure-drivers.

Key Functions:
Derive, develop, verify and assign system requirements to communication subsystems as part of integrated ATSC solutions
Provide communication system theory expertise in evaluating optimal systems implementations including assessment of communication payloads, terminals and satellite (VSAT, receivers, etc.) systems
Provide technical analysis, utilize simulation and requirements management tools, perform system trade studies, and prototyping to assess communication system performance and to developing the next generation of communication architectures requirements
Assess the performance of satellite and terrestrial systems, communications links, and other wireless networks
Perform and support site surveys and generate related analyses in support of system implementation.
Survey and identify trends in spectrum usage and develop new communication architectures and concepts
Present technical and project status briefings to management and customers This position can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist
Hands-on skills, including use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and related tools.
Qualifications Required:
Degree from an accredited university in engineering or another related field.
Minimum of 6 years relevant experience post bachelor's degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Experience in digital communications systems.
Knowledge in TCP/IP networks and systems.
Experience in software programming applications (MATLAB, Python, C/C++).
Ability to present results effectively in briefings and technical reports.
Ability to travel.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in engineering or another related field preferred.
Theoretical understanding of modern space and terrestrial communications.
Strength in software and virtual testing tool tools such as LabView.
Experience with terrestrial communication (4G, 5G LTE).
Able to work and learn new concepts that go beyond communications engineering Requirements for Engineering.

• Advanced degree in engineering or another related field.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office setting.
Must be able to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
Must have the ability to lift 15-25 pounds.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Travel overseas may be required.
