Job Description - Communication Manager

Overview

Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking a

Communications Manager

to join our team in

Pompano Beach, FL . Reporting directly to the Manager of Dispatch/Operations, the Communications Manager is responsible for supervising Transportation Specialists who monitor all rail traffic along SFRTA Commuter Rail Corridor and are responsible for a variety of reporting duties related to situations that may impact commuter passenger service, the functionality of train stations and crew management. The candidate for this position must be a detail-oriented individual with excellent communications skills.

Description of Responsibilities:
Exercises leadership, trains and supervises Transportation Specialists who communicate on time performance information of Tri-Rail commuter trains to employees, passengers and others through various means.
Provides real-time information regarding delays and service disruptions to SFRTA and other designated Contractors. Will coordinate alternate transportation during service disruptions.
Receives reports of disruptions and deficiencies occurring at stations, such as ticket vending machine and elevator malfunctions, and forwards such information to SFRTA and those responsible for maintenance and repair.
Receives calls around security concerns and is responsible for forwarding this information to security and/or law enforcement as required.
Acts and aids in emergency situations and ensure continuous compliance with Herzog and SFRTA rules and regulations.
Maintains event logs, produces and distributes various reports, maintains/updates databases.
Responsible for the management of the crew calling work force, ensuring that manpower planning for the train crews is accomplished in compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Responsible for the manpower planning of the Operations Center scheduling the Transportation Specialists, as necessary.
Evaluates and discusses performance of direct reports, recommending commendations or disciplinary action as appropriate.
The Communications Manager may be assigned other duties as determined by the Manager of Dispatch/Operations.
Works with, and takes direction from, the Dispatch Supervisor when the Manager of Dispatch/Operations is unavailable.
Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position."

Qualifications/Skills:

College degree preferred. High school diploma or GED required (related college coursework a plus).
Flexibility to work a variety of days and hours; including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under multiple demanding situations.
Must be able to communicate in English in a clear and concise manner both orally and written.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to type 40 words per minute.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
