Job Description - Communications and Development Director

Description

At Eastern Area Agency on Aging, we are dedicated to helping older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers live with dignity, independence, and choice. Serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington counties, our work connects people to essential services, supports caregivers, and strengthens communities.

We are seeking a strategic, creative, and relationship-focused leader to serve as our Communications & Development Director and lead the agency's fundraising, communications, marketing, and community engagement efforts. This full-time, 40 hours/week leadership position offers a starting salary of $67,000/year, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package and hybrid work flexibility.

What you'll do as the Communications & Development Director:

· Lead and implement fundraising strategies that support organizational growth and sustainability.

· Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, municipalities, and community partners.

· Oversee fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, sponsorships, campaigns, grants, and special events.

· Lead the development and implementation of communications, marketing, branding, and public relations strategies that increase awareness and engagement.

· Supervise the Grants and Communications Specialist, Receptionists, interns, and volunteers, providing coaching, support, and professional development while promoting collaboration and engagement across the organization.

· Represent EAAA through public speaking, donor engagement, community outreach, media, and strategic partnerships.

· Participate as a member of the leadership team, helping guide organizational strategy, culture, and continuous improvement efforts.

What we're looking for:

· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Fundraising, or a related field required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, development, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field required.

• Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience required.

• Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, grant development, sponsorship development, and community engagement.

• Experience developing and implementing communications, marketing, branding, and public relations strategies.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

• Strong organizational, project management, and strategic planning abilities.

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, donor management systems, databases, website content management systems, and social media platforms.

• Must have a valid driver's license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
