Division: Communication Services and Member Relations 


Reports To: Director of Communication Services and Member Relations 


FLSA Status: Full-Time | Non-exempt


Starting Compensation: $48,925 - $57,559 Annually

The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) exists to serve Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior service, unwavering advocacy, and creative solutions. OSBA is composed of more than 700 school boards and nearly 3,500 elected and appointed members representing local, city, exempted village, career center, and educational service center districts throughout Ohio. OSBA helps local school board members do their jobs more effectively by providing superior service, advocacy, and creative solutions.


Overview                                    


As the Communications and Digital Content Specialist, you will use your content creation, visual design, technical expertise, and writing skills to support OSBA’s mission and elevate its brand across digital and print platforms. You will work both independently and collaboratively, using a variety of communication strategies to advance OSBA’s goals, support strategic initiatives, and strengthen engagement among members.



What Will You Do?



  • Serve as the primary support for internal and external A/V technology needs during meetings, webinars, and events.

  • Maintain A/V inventory and coordinate with IT for tech updates and improvements.

  • Set up, test, and troubleshoot microphones, projectors, video recording/streaming systems, and hybrid meeting platforms.

  • Produce engaging still photos, video images/videography and live content for a variety of platforms.

  • Assists with coordination of event communications, digital signage, registration materials, and on-site technical needs.

  • Develop and execute social media content (e.g. text, images, video)

  • Assist in the management of OSBA website.

  • Assist in the creation, cultivation, and/or distribution of content for OSBA communications (e.g. emails, e-newsletters, other digital communications).

  • Assist in drafting and editing press releases, articles, scripts, talking points, and other written materials to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with OSBA’s voice and style.

  • Serve as a backup to the Events Manager to assist with the coordination and execution of OSBA’s conferences, workshops, and other member-facing events.

  • Collaborate with team members on content development for newsletters, brochures, reports, and presentations.

  • Attend and/or assist with OSBA sponsored meetings and other events preparation duties as assigned by deputy director or director of Communication Services and Member Relations.

  • Other related duties as required.




Qualifications



  • Completion of an undergraduate degree program in graphic design, communications, journalism, public relations or related field from an accredited college

  • Valid driver’s license.


Note:   Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Use of video production, video/web, graphics, and photography, and conferencing equipment

  • Printing processes

  • Desktop publishing, image processing, word processing, data base, e-mail, Internet and online archiving

  • Interpersonal communication

  • Group facilitation



Work Environment



  • Hybrid work

  • Weekend and evening work

  • Travel and off-site work, including occasional out-of-state and overnight travel may be required (must provide own insured means of transportation)

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Repetitive hand motion
