The PUYALLUP TRIBAL HEALTH AUTHORITY, located in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a Communications and Outreach Coordinator to be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting communication strategies and organizing events that promote the health care services and initiatives provided to PTHA's communities.

COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the design of content for a variety of communication platforms, including social media, newsletters, intranet, newspaper, website and other digital media.
  • Ensure all communications and events reflect the cultural values and branding of PTHA and the community we serve.
  • Distribute communications materials throughout PTHA and the community to ensure effective outreach, engagement, and awareness of programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support for communications department, including managing calendars, and preparing communications to distribute internally and externally.
  • Plan and execute PTHA events and community outreach activities to engage, educate and inspire the community.
  • Work collaboratively with PTHA programs to develop and implement monthly health observance campaigns. (For example: May Mental Health Month). Create health observance campaign content to be used for website, waiting room display monitors, social media, newspaper, and signage.
  • Responsible for the coordination of assigned PTHA events from conception, planning, organizing, executing, post-event completion and follow up.
  • Oversee event logistics, including managing timelines and budgets, ordering materials, coordinating with event volunteers, and ensuring the events run smoothly.
  • Coordinate with community organizations and other partners to ensure the successful execution of events.
  • Identify, initiate, and foster relationships with various community stakeholders that serve Puyallup Tribal Members while maintaining and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Responsible for communication with Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and Staff to ensure and convey understanding of events which impact their areas.
  • Assist and advise PTHA department managers with planning, coordinating, and follow through of approved department specific events and activities.
  • Coordinate the ordering of promotional items as it relates to specific events and ensure timeliness of delivery.
  • Track the effectiveness of communication and engagement efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the Communications department with additional projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.- or- Associates Degree and two (2) years of relevant experience may substitute for education requirement.
  • Three (3) years of experience in communications, event planning, or a related role, in a healthcare or community-based setting.
  • Must hold a valid WA driver’s license and provide a valid driving abstract.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively plan prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and activities.
  • Creative thinker with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships within PTHA communities.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media management tools.
  • Experience with WordPress and graphic design is preferred.
  • Experience working in a tribal community and commitment to community outreach and engagement.
