Job Title: Communications Coordinator
Classification: Exempt
Salary Grade: M3
Reports to: County Treasurer
Date: August 2025
Summary/Objective: The communication coordinator will be responsible for external messaging and multimedia development to inform the public about the work of county government.
Essential Functions:
· Serve as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for Daviess County Fiscal Court, organizing media events and dissemination information to the press.
· Manage the county website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
· Live-stream County meetings using professional production software.
· Setup presentations and video conferencing for meetings through Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
· Responsible for all multimedia content creation to include video, photography, audio podcasts, print brochure, flyers, digital graphics, and PowerPoint presentations. Familiarity with digital editing and design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
· Promote county events and initiatives (Touch-A-Truck, Take A Kid Fishing, July Fireworks at Yellow Creek Park, Christmas at Panther Creek, Trash for Cash, Christmas Wish Golf Scramble and more.
· Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with elected officials, community groups, and other key stakeholders.
· Help guide the county’s response to emergencies and other high-profile events, ensuring transparent and accurate communication.
· Coordinate messaging across county departments to ensure consistency and alignment with county goals.
· Advise county officials on communication practices and assist other county agencies with media outreach.

· Language Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries from public, government agencies or members of Fiscal Court. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software, Human Resources systems, Payroll systems, and Word Processing software.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field (journalism, marketing, communication, public relations, public administration, education, English) required. Two (2) years of work experience in marketing, community development/improvement or other governmental services preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Prezi, various marketing techniques, and good written and oral communications skills. Video production and editing experience highly desired.
Additional eligibility qualifications: Valid Driver’s License
