Communications Engineer

Cortina Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Communications Engineer to design, develop, implement, and maintain robust radio systems – encompassing both hardware and software – to ensure secure and reliable transmission of data, voice, and video. This role is critical to delivering cutting-edge communication solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement radio systems, integrating hardware and software components.


• Maintain and troubleshoot radio systems, performing root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions.


• Implement and manage encryption keys to ensure secure communications.


• Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations for engineering leadership, program management, and external agencies.


• Provide technical recommendations to engineering and program management regarding communications architecture, product selection, statement of work development, and funding proposals.


• Support Spectrum Management activities.


• Integrate radio systems with existing network infrastructure, utilizing networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.


• Develop and maintain software components for Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field


• 15+ years of experience

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Experience with Spectrum Management principles and practices.


• Familiarity with SATCOM (Satellite Communications) systems.


• Knowledge of A-PNT (Alternative Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) technologies.


• Experience with COMSEC (Communications Security) principles and implementation.


• Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.) and network security principles.


• Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and development.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
