We are looking for a strategic communicator who can help tell the story of what God is doing in and through our church while building systems that keep our staff, ministries, and congregation informed, engaged, and aligned.
Position Overview
The Communications Lead is responsible for leading the communication strategy of Antioch Austin across all platforms and ministries. This role serves as both a strategist and executor—developing communication plans, managing church-wide messaging, overseeing digital platforms, promoting & leading events, and leading creative/communication volunteers.
The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, strong project manager, and excellent communicator who can move seamlessly between big-picture planning and detailed execution.
This job will start at 30hrs/wk as a salaried position.
Key Responsibilities
Church Communications
Lead communication strategy and messaging for church-wide initiatives, events, and campaigns.
Develop and execute promotional plans for ministries, events, and seasonal initiatives.
Coordinate communication timelines and help manage the church calendar across departments.
Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and communication standards across all platforms.
Social Media & Storytelling
Manage Antioch Austin's social media presence, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and engagement.
Capture and share stories of life change that communicate the vision, culture, and mission of the church.
Weekly Content
Produce weekly newsletters and other church-wide communications.
Repurpose sermons into discipleship-focused content, including video clips, blogs, and social media resources.
Event Leadership
Lead the planning and execution of major church-wide events and initiatives, coordinating teams, timelines, communication, and logistics from concept to completion.
Partner with ministry leaders to ensure events are well-organized, effectively promoted, and aligned with church priorities.
Website Management
Maintain and update the church website, including event registrations, landing pages, ministry information, and online resources.
Team Leadership
Recruit, lead, and develop the Communications Volunteer Team, including photographers, videographers, writers, and content creators.
Create systems and processes that empower volunteers to effectively capture and communicate church life.
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Experience with social media content strategy and execution.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers.
Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability.
Preferred
Experience working in church communications or ministry environments.
Familiarity with Planning Center, Notion, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
Experience with content creation, video editing, and digital storytelling.
Understanding of branding, marketing, and communication strategy.
